Two Lancia Flaminia Superleggera’s have come in for a full restoration - October 2024
Two new cars have entered the workshop this week! Both are Lancia Flaminia with the patented Superleggera style, a yellow left-hand drive convertible and the second is a very rare right-hand drive grey Coupe, which is only 1 of 11 ever produced. The Lancia Flaminia Superleggera has a 2.5 litre V6 engine with 102 horsepower.
The Lancia brand was formed in 1906 by two racing drivers, Vincenzo Lancia and Claudio Fogolin. They aimed to create lighter cars that were more affordable to the general public for the time period. The aluminium body was created by Caroteria Touring in Torino (Turin) in Italy. The cars were in production between 1959 and 1967.
The Lancia Flaminia pair has arrived for a full restoration. At first inspection, the Lancias present exterior aluminium skins damage along with large surfaces of corrosion and damage in the interior floors. For each Lancia Flaminia, we will start by completing a detailed assessment, deconstructing it and sending the aluminium skins for the paint will be stripped, and separately the steel bodywork to be restored. After this, we will work on rebuilding the engine and transaxle, along with a full re-wire. As most of the parts for classic cars like these aren’t in production anymore, we have to recreate them ourselves in particular the steel panels. This is often done by our master panel craftsman, Daz. We are looking forward to working on these projects over the coming months and keeping you up to date on the progress we make.
We have done a previous restoration on this Flaminia model not so long ago. You can check out the YouTube video for that restoration below.
